What Do I Do When I Get Laid Off?

In construction we get laid off all the time, so don’t take it personally. Workforce requirements change due to job completion, material availability, or other factors.

When you get laid, you should inform the IBEW 993 Dispatch office as soon as possible. You can use the online form to change your status, or call the dispatch line at 778-470-5657. We cannot change your status when you leave a voicemail or send an email.

Since our list system is based off days worked, and days are counted from the day you go out to work to the day you call in when laid off, dilly dallying will cost you days and could affect your position on the out of work list.
